- When buying software it is important to tell the supplier what type of organisation you are voluntary sector/charity etc, as there may be extra discounts or special offers available.
What type of software are you looking for? If you are not sure, then you need to think about what you are trying to achieve with your IT system. Most suppliers will give you some guidance regarding this.
Tell the supplier what type of equipment you have, is it PC or MAC, this is important in order to purchase the correct package for your machine.
How many machines do you wish to install the software on?
Will you require a software licence? if so how many?
Also think about maintenance/support etc? If you do not have an IT technician working with your organisation this maybe be something you should consider buying in.
Will you require a quote for installation? This is important if you are obtaining funding to cover the cost of your IT system.
Most software suppliers will be more than happy to help you with any of the above and can provide technical assistance if required.
