AMI (Asset Management Ireland Ltd)

AMI are an electrical equipment recycling company, providing data removal & WEEE disposal services to the voluntary & public sector, as well as commercial businesses throughout Northern Ireland.

We offer a unique solution to the problem of securely disposing of your redundant PCs and other electrical equipment in an environmentally responsible and ethical manner.

Collection

Computers in a binWe collect all types of PC and electrical equipment once they have reached the end of their useful life within client organisations. AMI hold an EHS Waste Carriers Licence, along with a Hazardous Waste Management site licence for their ATF recycling facility at Mallusk.

We provide and complete all necessary EHS Waste Transfer Consignment Notes on your behalf.

Security

The key service we provide is data-wiping. The importance of information security and the ‘Duty of Care’ that responsible organisations have towards their employees and clients is core to our business. The organisations we work with are required by the Data-Protection Act to ensure the information is removed properly once they dispose of the equipment.

Deleting information or formatting the hard disk is simply not enough. We use two accredited methods to do this, one is software based and the other hardware based; these are guaranteed to remove all traces of information from the equipment to meet UK Government standards.

We retain a record of all work carried out and provide a detailed report plus a ‘Certificate of Destruction’ back to the organisation.

Re-Use

Microsoft Authorised RefurbisherOnce the I.T. equipment has been processed, AMI can often re-market suitable equipment to provide reuse and even gain some revenue for the client.

AMI have recently been appointed as Northern Ireland’s first ever “Microsoft Authorised Refurbisher” (MAR). This enables us to provide refurbished computers to registered charities at a very low cost.

Recycling

Computers in a skipFor redundant equipment or non-working equipment AMI provide a full recycling service, which meets the European Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) which became fully implemented in the UK on 1st July 2007. The WEEE Regulations apply to all businesses as well as voluntary and public sector organisations.

AMI are now an EHS Approved Authorised Treatment Facility (AATF) for all categories of redundant electronics and can provide assistance in complying with the WEEE Regulations.

The work that AMI does is invaluable in reaching "digitally excluded" groups and individuals

Several Age Concern Local Groups have benefited from refurbished computers from AMI. This has enabled them to establish learning opportunities in computer, internet and email use for their older members.

This will definitely help reduce the digital divide which exists with regard to older citizens in Northern Ireland

The AMI scheme is excellent. It has allowed us to give computer and internet access to blind and partially sighted young people who may have otherwise been excluded.

AMI donated 5 computers to The Edge Youth Centre & installed XP Operating System for a great price.

Keith was very efficient & helpful in suggesting other charities to donate Mircosoft Office Licenses.

There should be more places like AMI in the world!

Thanks Keith.

AMI provide a great way for sheltered housing and day care schemes to obtain computer equipment at a fraction of the market price.

Older people are now able to access computers and overcome digital exclusion.

AMI have provided us with three computers, which means that we can develop our computer skills training programmes with a wide range of people in the Lecale area of Co Down. This programme is part of our community relations work in promoting active citizenship in the community. We would like to thank all at AMI for their generous support with this project.
