Social Economy Network

The Social Economy Network (Northern Ireland) Ltd is a membership based organisation representing the interests of Social Economy organisations throughout Northern Ireland. The Social Economy Network works as a catalyst to influence and shape policy towards sustainability for the sector. The Network seeks to build, support and strengthen the Social Economy sector through:

  • Creating a strong lobby for the sector
  • Providing a channel into policy formulation
  • Inputting into the development & implementation of programmes of action
  • Providing access to relevant and up to date information & knowledge resources
  • Identifying Social Economy Sector and/or government action which will stimulate the local social economy and maximise its potential
  • Representing, through its Steering Group drawn from the membership, the Network on the Social Economy Forum.
  • Fostering, supporting and encouraging the exchange of experience, information and knowledge within the sector
  • Encouraging and supporting co-operation
  • Stimulating greater awareness of the role of the Social Economy and its contribution to socio-economic growth and development.
  • Providing links with other relevant networks outside N. Ireland
  • Providing opportunities to form beneficial partnerships with organisations, local, regional, national & international

The Social Economy Network invites all Social Economy Organisations to join. The network is one of 3 structures established by Government to increase awareness of the Social Economy Sector; to establish its value to the local economy; to develop the sector and increase its business strength and to create a supportive and enabling environment for sector development and growth.

There is a nominal annual fee of £35 per organisation.

Membership of the Network will ensure your organisation is kept informed of emerging Political, Social and Economic developments that have potential to impact on the sector, and how these are best addressed. We encourage all our members to fully engage with the Network as we strategically represent and position the sector advantageously in line with current and emerging Political, Social and Economic developments
