Communitybuyer is committed to protecting your privacy, and takes its responsibilities regarding the security of customer information very seriously. This policy explains how we use customer information and how we protect your privacy.
1 Use of customer information
1.1 We require certain information to allow us to process your subscription, we ask you for personal information such as; contact name, company, address, email and web addresses (if applicable) and an account password.
1.2 We will use your information to provide and personalise our service. We will also use your contact details to communicate with you. We may use your details to send you information and news about communitybuyer.org services and benefits or those of other selected companies or agencies which we think may be of interest to you.
1.3 We like to hear your feedback to help us improve our services and we may contact you by post, email, telephone or fax to ask your opinions.
1.4 We may also use and analyse the information that we collect so that we can administer, support, and develop our services.
1.5 The information that you provide to us will be held in our systems, which are located on our premises at 61 Duncairn Gardens, Belfast BT15 2GB We may also allow access to your information by other third parties who work with us for the sole purposes of providing you with other services or benefits. These third parties will be required by NICVA to comply strictly with its instructions and will prohibited from using your personal information for their own business purposes.
1.6 As set out above NICVA is committed to safeguarding your personal information. Whenever you provide such information, we are legally obliged to use your information in line with all laws concerning the protection of personal information, including the Data Protection Act 1998. To comply with the law, any information collected will be used fairly, stored safely and not disclosed to any other person unlawfully.
2. Accessing and updating personal information
When you use communitybuyer services, we make every effort to provide you with access to your personal information and either to correct this data if it is inaccurate or to delete such data at your request. We ask individual users to identify themselves and the information requested to be accessed, corrected or removed before processing such requests.
3. Security to protect your information and data retention.
3.1 Site tracking
We use tracking software to monitor customer traffic patterns and site usage to help us develop the design and layout of the site to better meet the needs of visitors to the communitybuyer site. This software does not enable us to capture any personally identifying information.
3.2 Cookies
Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. We use cookies to improve the quality of our service by storing user preferences and tracking user trends. They provide features such as remembering email addresses to make subsequent searches faster. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can change your browser settings to prevent that.
If you do not wish this to happen you can change the cookie settings in your browser. We will keep your information confidential except where disclosure is required or permitted by law (for example to government bodies and law enforcement agencies) or as described in paragraph 1, point 1.5. Generally we will only use your information with NICVA.
3.3 Offensive or inappropriate content on the website
If you post or send offensive, inappropriate or objectionable content anywhere on the site NICVA may use your information to stop such behavior.
4. Your consent
When you sign up for the communitybuyer service we ask you to provide personal information. If we use this information in a manner different than the purpose for which it was collected then we will ask for you consent prior to use
If we propose to use your information for any purposes other than those described in the Privacy Policy we will offer you an effective way to opt out. We will not collect or use your information for purposes other than those described in this Privacy Policy unless we have obtained your prior consent
